This is so exciting to me. The bright yellow bloom of the primrose jasmine is the first harbinger of Spring here in Austin, Texas, and I’ve found a handful popping out throughout our neighborhood.
They just make me smile from ear to ear. It’s the promise of a brighter day and a new season of growth and beauty. I look forward to them, and then shortly thereafter, my daffodils and various other bulbs.
Speaking of which, I didn’t get my leftover bulbs in the ground last weekend, choosing instead to focus on tearing out tomatoes and planting seeds. We’re supposed to get up to 68 or 70 degrees Saturday and Sunday, so I’ll push that up to the top of the list again!
How can those blooms not make one break out in a big smile? Those are delightful-looking blooms.
Sigh … spring. What could be better?
I have a zany dog on my hands today. He hasn’t been out for a good, long walk and boy, he has extra energy. Do you find the same with your dogs when they haven’t had enough exercise?
I’ve found a kindred spirit, thank you! Can’t wait to meet you at Spring Fling.
Kate – yes, my dogs get cranky. My boy dog peed in the house twice this week when I left him to run errands, etc. He gets mad. Thank goodness we have concrete floors that are easy to clean and sanitize. I told him — “I’m gonna put you in a crate!” But I’m not sure he understood what I was saying! How long before you have fairly consistent Spring weather?
vbdb: Oh, I’m so glad you’re coming to the Spring Fling! I love your blog — the photos yesterday were amazing, btw. I neglected to tell you that when I got caught up in the bunny story. What kind of camera/lens were you using?
Spring won’t be here until well into April. February can be a bitterly cold month, but usually March and April are milder. In May, we can get beautiful weather – our last frost date is the second-last weekend in May.
I would love to be able to attend the Spring Fling – too bad it’s so far away from me.
