Here is the last little trickle of photos from the Garden Bloggers Spring Fling.
These photos were taken at the David/Peese garden that we toured on Saturday in the glorious Texas sunshine.
The garden was so rich and full of amazing sights, it’s actually quite difficult to describe in words. Which is why they say a picture is worth a thousand words. So, enjoy these pictures and I’ll let them speak for themselves.
We had big storms blow through here last night, with heavy rain and frightening winds waking me at 2:30 a.m. I spent the rest of the night 1/2 awake, worried that my tropical hanging baskets were being pelted and that the tall plumerias and the lime tree would have toppled over and be rolling around the patio. Luckily, it’s just wet and cool outside and the plants all survived. I think the tropicals are wondering where in the world that cold weather came from, but they should be fine. It’s supposed to clear up by noon and heat right up to 88 degrees this afternoon.
As the Spring Fling participants can now officially attest (with a cold dip to the 50s and hail Friday morning that schizophrenically morphed into upper 70s the same day), if you don’t like the weather in Texas, just wait a minute — it’ll change!
Spring Fling continues to linger. I really enjoyed you coming by yesterday especially after you missed the unscheduled stops here on Friday and Saturday. We Austin garden bloggers are lucky because we get to go on visiting each other throughout the year.
I think it’s interesting that you took some of the same shots I did; whereas other people took entirely different pictures. It just goes to show that a garden is a very subjective experience…every person leaves with a different impression of it.
MSS – I had a delightful visit at your garden yesterday and was really bummed to miss the Fling tours. Now I’ve gotten the private tour! I started to bring my camera with me, and then decided to just inhale it and enjoy. Besides, you capture it so wonderfully on your blog. We are lucky, arent’ we?
Lovely shots and I think that weather statement can be said about many places. We hit 71 F here today and that was a great surprise! Thanks for reading and commenting over at Ledge and I will continue to watch your garden grow this season!
Words have eluded me as well, I finally have concluded that I gestalted the experience and there are no longer words to adequately describe the parts, it’s just the David/Peese garden. But photos help and these are very nice ones, seeing the different rooms in his garden from formal to casual help me grasp the difficulty in describing it!

Great photos, Diana! I have yet to pull mine off the camera, what with all the travel and all. I told my husband he wouldn’t have believed it. Amazing.
And, by the way, I’m very envious that you Austin bloggers get to visit each others gardens. I want to see them all!

Layanee – I’m sure 71 felt great today – I hope you keep getting more real Spring weather so your garden can flourish. We had upper 80s here and it’s starting to get hot!
Gail – Sorry, we certainly didn’t intend to send you our storms! We did appreciate the rain, here, though, since we are basically back to drought conditions again.
Carol – Ditto on the storms. They cooled us down here about 20 degrees, but by noon we were back on the hot track again. I I hope you all dry out and warm up for good soon.
Robin – Well, I can’t wait to see your pictures. It’s been so interesting to see each person’s perspective and photo eye. I saw MSS’ garden yesterday, but I have yet to see Bonnies and I still have a long list of folks to visit to cover the whole Austin clan! We’ll keep you posted.

Hi Kate – it was all so fun to oogle over great, and very different, gardens all day. And I loved them all. I’m sure we will do this again and you’ll have to make the trip!
Love the pictures Diana. They say the same thing about the Indiana weather. It is windy and the storms are supposed to blow through here the next couple of days and be cold again. Booooo

Lisa – My MIL said it’s supposed to be in the 30s-40s this weekend after being 70. So sorry. I know that must be a let-down. But you do have lots of buds. Glad you liked the Spring Fling Photo tour. I didn’t have our good camera, so I’m pleased that the photos turned out ok.
Dawn – Thanks – I’m so glad to have all those photos. My plants seem none the worse for the wear. I just get used to babying them in the garage over the winter and they get spoiled!
Everytime I go and look at someone else’s Peese garden pictures from Spring Fling I see more little things I missed.
We’ll have to all go visit those gardens again – they were amazing.
Herself : I know what you mean – I keep seeing things I missed and photo opportunities that I missed! It was just amazing. I told my husband and all my gardening friends that if it is listed on an Open Days tour again, they have to go see it.
