Wow. Isn’t it pretty?
A huge Thank You goes out to my wonderful DH who made my Christmas Greenhouse a reality.
It’s up and running – and several of my largest tropicals are happily sitting in their new winter home — the Duranta, Plumeria and Mexican Lime Tree.
And it’s perfect timing. The low Saturday night is supposed to be 38.
That’s definitely not warm enough for most of the tender tropicals that are scattered around the back patio.
Those two sure take up a lot of room! I didn’t quite realize how big they’ve gotten this summer. We may be jockeying for position with each other in there!
I can’t wait to fill those great cedar benches–they will be mostly full by Sunday!
The bed surrounding it, however, will be keeping me awake at night as I mull over what to put in there….I know there will be cutting flowers there, but what else?

I think you should have a party in there as soon as possible. You are mightly blessed with that wonderful DH.
Cindy – thanks — yes, he’s a pretty cool guy! That’s why I had the guys who brought the pea gravel and soil and mulch for the beds move my really big pots so he won’t have to do it this weekend!
MSS – Come on over and we’ll have a cup of tea in there one morning after the front blows through on Sunday morning.
Lisa – that’s a good idea — but I’m not sure more than 2 will fit in there at a time once the plants are all in. It will have to be a serial party…we’ll just line everyone up for their turn 😉

Diana, that is amazing! Congratulations, you deserve it! Can’t wait to see the surprises you pull out of there next spring. Enjoy yourself.
That’s a pretty thing. And I love those cedar potting benches. Did you get them from the glass house place or somewhere else?
Amy – I am thrilled. The heater came on last night like it was supposed to, so now I just have to haul all the other pots in there. But that will be a labor of love.
Robin – I know, I have visions of seedlings dancing in my head!
Pam – the benches came from the Greenhouse Mall, too. Since it’s clear and pretty visible, I wanted it to look nice in there and these fit the bill.
Diana, I’m now officially jealous of your greenhouse! I just spent the last hour bringing plants into my living room (where I have no space for them really), and putting stakes around the ones I’m covering up tonight. And as you know, in Austin, we cover up, we uncover, we cover, we uncover, we cover…you get it. Tender perennials are gorgeous, but annoying in this inclement winter we have. Enjoy your “one time” move of everything!
Robin – I know what you mean, still. It’s 110 in the greenhouse right now, while I am trying to bring in some plants. Even with the doors open, 4 windows open and the fan and vent going. Sigh. It it’s not the cold, it’s the heat!!!
That’s so Texas for you! I was literally sweating while I moved my plants inside today in the heat. I had to shake my head at the ludicrousness of it – preparing for a freeze while sweating!
Robin – it is crazy, isn’t it? But with these gale force winds tonight, I’m sure you are glad to have them inside, aren’t you. Stay warm tomorrow night!
Oh, Diana – it must be sooo nice to have that greenhouse today, with the cold temperatures coming tonight!
It was funny to see your post when I came in from running around with a tape measure in hand, trying to figure out how we’ll ever fit the two plumeria trees into the garage.

Annie – I know about those Plumerias. When I put it into the greenhouse it took up about 1/4 of the space! Add my Duranta tree and it looked full!
